Renée Fleming & Evgeny Kissin Cancel Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Concert

By Francisco Salazar

The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées has announced the cancelation of Renée Fleming and Evgeny Kissin’s recital. The performance was originally scheduled for Jan. 15, 2023.

The theater said that “suffering from the flu, Evgeny Kissin is unable to perform the recital with Renée Fleming scheduled for this Sunday. This concert being an exclusive and inseparable program imagined by these two exceptional artists, we are forced to cancel this recital.”

The news comes a few days after Kissin was forced to cancel the Jan. 12 concert at the Musikverein in Vienna. As a result, Jean Yves Thibaudet agreed to step in and perform alongside Fleming.

Fleming and Kissin are set to perform their recital series throughout the world with their next scheduled appearance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on Jan. 18.  They also make stops in New York, Milan, Lucerne, and Salzburg.
