Juilliard Outdoors: PLAZAWORK to Feature 100 Juilliard Students

By Francisco Salazar

On Sept. 20, Juilliard Outdoors: PLAZAWORK 2026 will be a free, large-scale outdoor performance that brings more than 100 Juilliard students across the music, dance, and drama divisions together in an immersive, continually evolving work as part of Juilliard’s third annual Fall Festival.

Directed by Creative Enterprise Fellow Derek Wang and Arnhold Creative Associate Caili Quan, PLAZAWORK 2026 will transform Lincoln Center’s Hearst Plaza into a creative commons.

The experience will draws audiences into motion through time and space and invite them to reflect on the 250th anniversary of the United States as they experience soapbox readings, Merce Cunningham repertory excerpts, site-specific choreography, and songs from multiple faith traditions.

The performance will be at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a rain date on Sept. 20, 2026.
