Renée Fleming, Denyce Graves, Aundi Marie Moore, Brandie Sutton, Justin Austin Headline Washington Performing Arts 2022-23 Season

Washington Performing Arts has announced its 2022-23 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal and operatic performances.

The Men and Women of the Gospel Choir, under conductor Theodore Thorpe III, will present “We’ve Come This Far By Faith: A 30th Anniversary Celebration.”

Performance Date: Nov. 20, 2022

Tito Muñoz will conduct the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra and the Exigence Vocal Ensemble in a performance also featuring soprano Aundi Marie Moore.

Performance Date: Jan. 31, 2023

Michele Fowlin and Theodore Thorpe III lead the Washington Performing Arts Gospel Choirs in “Living the Dream… Singing the Dream.”

Performance Date: Feb. 5, 2023 

Brandie Inez Sutton and Justin Austin will join forces with the String Quartet from the Sphinx Organization and pianist Damien Sneed in a performance featuring music by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and contemporary composers.

Performance Date: Feb. 10, 2023

Denyce Graves will star in Damien Geter’s “Cotton” alongside Justin Austin and pianist Laura Ward.

Performance Date: Feb. 28, 2023

The Del Sol Quartet and the United States Air Force Band’s Singing Sergeants in Huang Ruo’s oratorio “Angel Island.”

Performance Date: May 2, 2023 

Renée Fleming and Evgeny Kissin perform music by Rachmaninoff in recital.

Performance Date: May 10, 2023

Children of the Gospel Choir, under Michel Fowlin, will perform in the season finale.

Performance Date: June 10, 2023
