René Pape, Olga Peretyatko, Elsa Dreisig Headline Staatsoper Berlin’s New Online Programming

The Staatsoper Berlin has announced an all-new online program, which will feature an opera gala on June 20.

The company revealed that starting on May 22, it would showcase multidisciplinary concert programs every Friday with programs available on the company website for several days thereafter. There will also be special programs on some Saturdays.

The first program will put a spotlight on Beethoven’s Sextet for two horns and strings as well as three Scottish songs for tenor and piano trio. Stephan Rügamer will perform with members of the Staatskapelle Berlin.

Performance Date: May 22, 2020

“Brazilian Songs” will be the focus of the second program. The concert, which includes music by Villa-Lobos and Henrique, will star Adriane Queiroz and David Delgado.

Performance Date: May 29, 2020 

Musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin will take on music by Strauss, Wagner, Raschke, and Mozart.

Performance Date: June 5, 2020 

Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” will be presented in a children’s concert with Nadine Grenzedörfer and Anja Fürstenberg moderating the performance.

Performance Date: June 6, 2020 

Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals” will feature Christoph Waltz as the speaker with Daniel Barenboim and Thomas Guggeis on the piano.

Performance Date: June 12, 2020

A Liedrecital with music by Mahler, Wolf, Schoenberg, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Dvořák will be the presented with a cast that is yet to be determined.

Performance Date: June 19, 2020

An opera gala will also be showcased with music by such composers as Mozart and Puccini. Among the soloists will be Olga Peretyatko, Anna Prohaska, Elsa Dreisig, René Pape, and Charles Castronovo.

Performance Date: June 20, 2020 

Additionally concerts will feature Mendelssohn’s Octet (June 26), music by Elliott Carter (June 27), and music by Schumann, Widmann, and Strauss (July 3).
