Ramón Vargas Leads Palacio de Bella Artes’ ‘Giovanna d’Arco’

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is set to present Verdi’sGiovanna d’Arco.”

The performance will be held on Feb. 11, 13, and 15, 2024, and will star tenor Ramón Vargas in his return to the Mexican theater, Karen Gardeazabal in the title role, and Mihai Damian. The production will also star Alejandro López and Alberto Galicia. Félix Krieger conducts.

The performances will mark the first time in 167 years that the Mexican theater presents the opera and Juliana Vanscoit and Fabiano Pietrosanti will direct the opera.

“Giovanna d’Arco” premiered in 1845 at the Teatro alla Scala and has remained a rarity having been performed at the Teatro alla Scala in 2015 after an absence of 150 years.
