Rai 5 is set to stream Nicola Antonio Manfroce’s rarely performed “Ecuba” on August 3.

The performance comes from the 2019 Festival Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca and was helmed by legendary director Pier Luigi Pizzi.

The production features rising star Lidia Fridman in the title role, Norman Reinhardt, Mert Süngü, Roberta Mantegna, Martina Gresia, and Lorenzo Izzo. Sesto Quatrini conducts the work.

Critics raved about Fridman’s breakout performance stating “her voice surprises for its interpretative maturity. The voice is interesting with beautiful colors and light force on the high notes.”

Fridman sang the opera at the age of 23 before going to the Donizetti Opera Festival and garnering rave reviews from the first production of “L’Ange de Nisida.” The soprano recently made her role debut as “Lucrezia Borgia” in Trieste and performed a recital in Martina Franca.
