Rai 5 to Present ‘Suor Angelica’ & ‘Il Prigionero’ From Rome Featuring Corinne Winters & Mattia Olivieri
By Francisco SalazarRai 5 is set to broadcast the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s Production of Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” and Dallapiccola’s “Il Prigioniero.”
The broadcast will be held on June 12 at 9:15 local Italian time. The production, which opened in April 2025, was conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by Calixto Bieito.
Corinne Winters and Marie-Nicole Lemieux led Puccini’s opera, while Mattia Olivieri and Ángeles Blancas Gulín starred in Dallapiccola’s opera.
Barbara Napolitano is the video director.
When the production opened, critics raved, stating, “Calixto Bieito directs a moving ‘Suor Angelica’ and Il prigioniero in Rome.” Additionally, they noted that Winters showed “warm” timbre and “very natural” acting while Olivieri was showcased a “rich, resonant baritone.”
