Quinn Kelsey Leads LA Opera’s ‘Rigoletto’

LA Opera is set to present Verdi’s “Rigoletto” from May 31 through June 21, 2025.

The opera will be presented in a production by Tomer Zvulun and conducted by James Conlon.

In a statement, Christopher Koelsch said, “One of the groundbreaking trio of masterpieces from Verdi’s ‘middle period’ (along with ‘La Traviata’ and ‘Il Trovatore’), Rigoletto is an exceptionally powerful tragedy. I welcome its return to our stage, especially under the baton of James Conlon, whose Verdi interpretations are always notably moving, and with the supremely gifted baritone Quinn Kelsey in the title role.”

The cast will include Quinn Kelsey in his acclaimed interpretation alongside René Barbera as the Duke of Mantua. Lisette Oropesa and Kathryn Lewek will share teh role of Gilda while Blake Denson will make his company debut as Monterone and Peixin Chen and Sarah Saturnino will portray Sparafucile and Maddalena.

All performances will take place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
