Quarry Theatre to Present ‘Yours Forever, Lincoln’
By David SalazarQuarry Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland is set to present the new chamber opera “Yours Forever, Lincoln.“
The work, which is written by composer and co-librettist Patrick Alexander, will unpack the idea that many of the former President Abraham Lincoln’s intimate male relationships may have been more than just friendships. The work will explore American revisionism and LGBTQIA+ visibility.
“Lincoln has a mythological status in American culture and the realization that even an icon’s history can be erased inspired me to tell this story,” said Alexander in a press statement. “I hope other LGBTQAI+ people, upon experiencing this opera, will also feel seen.”
The work will open in October 2022 at The Voxel in Baltimore, Maryland.
