Pretty Yende, Elina Garanca, Roberto Alagna, Benjamin Bernheim Headline Opéra de Paris’ Streams for the Holiday Season

In lieu of the recent postponement of its 2020-21 season opening, the Opéra National de Paris has announced that it will be streaming several works that were originally set to open its new season.

First up, the company will stream Verdi’s “La Traviata” in Simon Stone’s modern take. Pretty Yende and Benjamin Bernheim headline the famed opera.

Audiences will also get a chance to stream a 2017 performance Bizet’s “Carmen” in a production from Calixto Bieito. Elina Garanca appears in her signature role alongside Roberto Alagna, who takes on Don José.

Audiences can make a one-time purchase that they will be a able to watch for 30 days. The operas will be available until Jan. 20, 2021.

Both operas were set to open the company’s 2020-21 season. “La Traviata” was set to appear at the Palais Garnier with “Carmen” set to open the Opéra Bastille.
