Presidio Theatre Names New Executive & Artistic Director

Lilly Schwartz will be the next Executive and Artistic Director of the Presidio Theatre.

In her new role, Schwartz will oversee operations at the theater including programming, marketing, and fundraising, among other tasks.

Schwartz, who served more than 10 years as Artistic Director at SFJAZZ, was also the Director of Pops and Programming and was the Director of the Composers Institute at the Minnesota Orchestral Association. She also worked at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia and has collaborated with such organizations as Carnegie Hall, Stonington Jazz Festival in Australia, California Presenters Conference, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Summer Music at Harkness and Jazz in Germany, among others.

“I am honored and thrilled to join Peggy and the Presidio team to move this beautiful theatre into its next iteration,” said Schwartz in an official press release.  “We will work together to build upon the organization’s vision and to refine our own unique voice in the performing arts world.  This thoughtful renovation which created a state of the art 600 seat hall, is positioned for creative programmatic expansion to include music, dance, theater and arts of all genres.  In following in the original intention of the Theatre, we will welcome resident artistic companies, local artists and the community at large.  I can’t wait to usher the Presidio Theatre into its next era.”
