Polyphonic Ensemble Launches Inaugural Fundraising Campaign
By David SalazarChicago-based Polyphonic Ensemble, founded by Co-Founders and Executive Directors Justin Broom and Michael Morales, has launched its inaugural fundraising campaign as the company prepares its first season of programming.
The company’s mission centers on creating theatre and opera through collaboration with artists across multiple disciplines. Broom, an actor and producer, currently serves as Co-Artistic Director for Ghostlight Ensemble. Morales is a producer, pianist, and music director who has accompanied performers in Chicago and supported organizations in Dallas and New York City.
“We want to create a space and company where all the elements of this artform are given the same level of intention and care to create productions that make audiences feel completely immersed in the world we create,” said Broom, per an official press release. “That can only be achieved with deep collaboration with a group of artists unified around the same vision, and forming an ensemble is a time honored structure to achieve that.”
“I’ve always believed that opera is for everyone,” added Morales. “I’m so excited to be able to bring the art form to audiences in ways that get new and continuing opera goers reenergized to get out into the city and to connect with the arts in a new way.”
The fundraising campaign has a goal of $25,000 to support the company’s first season, which is expected to include full productions of two plays, including a world premiere by a Chicago playwright, an opera, and several smaller vocal and opera concerts.
