Plácido Domingo is receiving a prestigious award in Mexico city.

The Spanish singer is receiving the Premio Batuta for his excellence in classical music. Domingo will receive the award on Oct. 6, 2019, and has already confirmed he will be in attendance for the ceremony.

The award will also be handed to Michael Nyman, Leo Brouwer, Sergio Berlioz, David Rodríguez De La Peña, Lizzi Ceniceros, Enrique Bátiz, Horacio Franco, María Luisa Tamez, Edesio Alejandro, Jorge Saade-Scaff, Venus Rey Jr, Carlos Esteva, and Irasema Terrazas.

Daniel Lozakovich will also receive the young conductor award.

The award comes as Domingo recently ended his relationship with the Metropolitan Opera after he was accused of sexual misconduct by 20 women. While U.S. theaters have fired him and LA Opera continues an investigation into the allegations, Domingo continues to perform in Europe. He last performed in Hungary and Austria where he was met with standing ovations and he next performs to a sold-out house at the Opernhaus Zurich in the title role of “Nabucco.”
