On February 23, 2019 the Pittsburgh Opera is set to present the local premiere of Tom Cipullo’s “Glory Denied.”
The work, based on a book by Tom Philpott, tells the true story of U.S. Army Colonel Jim Thompson, who was held captive as a prisoner of war longer than any other American in history.
The work, which only features four singers, is set to star Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artists Terrence Chin-Loy, Benjamin Taylor, Ashley Fabian, and Caitlin Gotimer. James Lesniak will conduct the production by Pittsburgh Resident Artist Matthew Heney.
“Glory Denied” is set to be performed at the George R. White opera studio at the company’s headquarters. Four performances will be held on Feb. 23 and 26, and on March 1 and 3, 2019.
