Pittsburgh Opera Announces “Pull Back the Curtain” Web Series

By Logan Martell

Pittsburgh Opera has announced that it will be launching a free, weekly web series called “Pull Back the Curtain.” Hosted by Manager of Artistic Operations Rob Boldin, the series will feature special guests from the opera community as they discuss their experience in the industry and the process behind staging an opera.

The series will premiere on July 23, 2020, and will be broadcast on the company’s Facebook page, with each episode being 15 – 30 minutes in length. Each episode will air at 4:00 pm Eastern time, and the series is intended to run until mid-September.

“We are excited to provide these engaging weekly events,” says General Director Christopher Hahn in a press release. “They’ll give our audience free opportunities to go backstage, figuratively speaking, and hear candid conversations with some of the many people it takes to make opera happen.”

The first episode will feature two resident artists: soprano Ashley Fabian, a winner of the 2020 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in her district of South Carolina, and baritone Brian Vu, who made his Met debut in last season’s production of “Der Rosenkavalier.”
