Piotr Beczała to Perform Polish National Opera’s Easter Concert
By Francisco SalazarThe Polish National Opera has announced that Piotr Beczała’s Easter concert will be streamed on Monday April 5, 2021, on vod.teatrwielki.pl.
The company announced that due to strict safety rules due to COVID-19, the concert will be performed without an audience.
Originally scheduled for March 17, the concert will feature the Orchestra of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera under the baton of Łukasz Borowicz.
Speaking about the program Beczala noted, “I always try to include pieces by Polish composers in my concert programs, and here in my country, I do it all the more willingly. So this time half of the arias I will sing are from Polish operas, but they will be juxtaposed with operas by Italian verismo. I really like such program combinations, I sang recitals during which I sang songs by Karłowicz, Moniuszko and Szymanowski with works by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari or Richard Strauss. Interesting comparisons are made then, and Polish songs are always met with interest. And at this concert, I would like to show the audience that our composers’ arias do not differ in quality from the famous arias from the world repertoire ”.
The program will works by Giordano, Moniuszko, Puccini, Mascagni, and Glinka, among others.
