Piotr Beczala Cancels More Concerts due to COVID

By Francisco Salazar

Piotr Beczala has canceled two more concerts due to COVID.

The tenor said, “dear friends, unfortunately, the cold I am struggling with turned out to be COVID, so to my great disappointment I am forced to cancel not only my concert in Munich today, but also the concerts in Vienna and Dresden. I send you warmest greetings, Piotr.”

The news comes a day after the tenor canceled his Munich concert and after he withdrew from his appearance at the Wiener Staatsoper gala due to logistical reasons.

The Wiener concert was part of the Great Voices series while the Dresden concert is an advent concert featuring Diana Damrau, Nicole Chirka, and Martin-Jan Nijhof. The concert will be broadcast on ZDF.

Beczala is now scheduled to return to the stage for a new production of “Fedora” at the Metropolitan Opera.
