Piotr Beczała, Camilla Nylund, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller & Saimir Pirgu Headline Staatskapelle Dresden’s 2021-22 Season

The Staatskapelle Dresden has announced its 2021-22 season.

For the purposes of this article we will focus only on vocal performances.

Baritone Matthias Goerne presents works by Richard Wagner alongside conductor Manfred Honeck and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.

Performance date: Aug. 31, 2021

Soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, alto Elisabeth Kulman, tenor Piotr Beczała, and bass Georg Zeppenfeld perform Ludwig van Beethoven‘s Symphony No. 9 “Choral” alongside conductor Christian Thielemann and the Sächsischer Staatsopernchor Dresden.

Performance dates: Sep. 3 – 5, 2021

Soprano Golda Schultz, alto Christa Mayer, tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp, and bass René Pape perform Mozart‘s Requiem alongside conductor Christian Thielemann.

Performance date: Oct. 29, 2021

Soprano Anja Kampe, tenor Stephen Gould, and bass René Pape present excerpts from Wagner‘s “Die Walküre” and “Götterdämmerung” alongside conductor Christian Thielemann.

Performance date: Oct. 31, 2021

Soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller and tenor Saimir Pirgu perform in a New Year’s concert alongside pianist Igor Levit and conductor Christian Thielemann.

Performance dates: Dec. 30 – 31, 2021

Soprano Camilla Nylund, alto Elena Zhidkova, tenor Saimir Pirgu, and bass Franz-Josef Selig sing Bruckner’s “Te Deum” alongside conductor Christian Thielemann and the Sächsischer Staatsopernchor Dresden.

Performance dates: Feb. 13 – 14, 2022

Manfred Honeck conducts soprano Nikola Hillebrand, alto Marie Henriette Reinhold, tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp, and bass Mikhail Timoshenko in a performance of Mozart’s Requiem.

Performance dates: April 10 – 11, 2022

Alto Christa Mayer performs Jörg Herchet’s Concert for violin, alto and orchestra alongside conductor Gaetano d’Espinosa and violinist Reinhard Krauß.

Performance date: May 11, 2021

Soprano Julia Kleiter and baritone Christian Gerhaher sing Alexander von Zemlinsky’s Lyrical Symphony for soprano, baritone and orchestra. Christian Thielemann conducts.

Performance dates: May 21 – 22, 2022, May 24 – June 2, 2022,  guest concerts in Zürich, Budapest, Graz, Vienna and Paris
