The Palau de les Arts in Valencia is set to present Verdi’s “Ernani.”

The opera, which is set to be staged by Andrea Bernard, will be performed between June 7 to 18, 2023. Michele Spotti conducts the Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana prepared by Francesc Perales and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Ernani” is set to star Piero Pretti in the title role, Angela Meade as Elvira, Franco Vassallo as Don Carlo, Evgeny Stavinsky as Silva, Laura Orueta as Giovanna, Matheus Pompeu as Don Riccardo, and Javier Castañeda as Jago.

In a statement, Pretti said, “I first took on the role of Ernani in 2020 at a concert performance during the Verdi Festival at the Teatro Regio in Parma. Last March, I performed in a staged version in Venice at Teatro La Fenice, home to the first performance of Ernani: it was right here in Venice in 1844 that Verdi, working for the first time with Francesco Maria Piave, brought this opera to the stage, bringing about yet another change to the direction of his repertoire and increasing his fame as a composer.”
