By Nicole Kuchta

Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice will soon bring great vocal talent to the Catskills, kicking off this Friday with “10 Year Gala, Decade of Opera Favorites.”

The Gala will showcase sopranos Nancy Allen Lundy and Michelle Jennings, tenors Anthony Laciura and Barry Banks, bass-baritone Kyle Albertson, bass Morris Robinson, and Robert McClaughlin-Tuvan in performances of beloved arias from “Madama Butterfly,” “Carmen,” “La Bohème,” and more.

The Festival will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with “musical gems that honor African-American culture and talent,” the highlight of the weekend being a new production of Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” set in a Ghanian village, starring Jasmine Habersham and Orson van Gay II.

Details of the lineup can be found here.

The Festival will take place in the Hamlet of Phoenicia, NY from Aug. 2 – 4, 2019.
