
Philip Glass’s ‘The Trial’ to Make Czech Premiere
By Francisco SalazarPhilip Glass’s “The Trial” is set to make its Czech premiere at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Ostrava, Czech Republic.
The work will be shown between Oct. 9 and 25 and will star Šárka Hrbáčková, Anna Nitrová, Vít Nosek, Vincenc Ignác Novotný, Raman Hasymau, Martin Javorský, Pavel Divín, and Jiří Hájek, among others. Bruno Ferrandis will conduct.
The opera originally premiered on Oct. 1o, 2014 at London’s Royal Opera House (Linbury Theatre) and tells the story of Josef K., who is arrested without explanation and becomes trapped in an incomprehensible judicial system.
“The Trial” will be shown at the atmospheric setting of St. Wenceslas Church in Ostrava, with just twelve performances over 15 days.
