The Kennedy Center will presumably be the site of celebration for the insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capital only miles away on Jan. 6, 2021.
Per Consequence, the J6 Prison Choir is set to perform at the famed arts organization. The news was revealed during CPAC by none other than Steve Bannon. The choir is apparently comprised of men who were imprisoned for raiding the capital on January 6 in an attempt to overthrow the results of the 2020 election, hang Vice President Mike Pence, and keep President Donald J. Trump in the White House. In making the announcement, Bannon noted that he was informed of the decision by Ric Grenell, the man appointed by Trump to be interim executive director of the center.
“I talked to Ambassador Ric Grenell last night, and — the J6 choir is going to play the Kennedy Center for a night in honor of their families,” Bannon claimed. During his speech, which included a “Roman” salute (or more accurately, a Nazi salute), Bannon also mentioned that the evening could give the regime a chance to put the “elites” in the “D.C. gulag for one night.”
The J6 Prison Choir previously released the song “Justice for All,” which features Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance while the ensemble sings “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The Kennedy Center has undergone massive changes over the past few weeks. Trump installed himself as the Chair of the Board of Directors, installed a board of loyalists, and then added Grenell, who claimed there was “no cash” at the Center, as its Executive Director. That was followed by a massive exodus of artists and advisors including soprano Renée Fleming. Performances were then canceled, including one by the Gay Men’s Chorus, who noted that their exclusion from the programming was “abrupt.”
In referencing his takeover, Trump complained of the programming at The Kennedy Center, before immediately admitting to never attending a performance there.
