PBS has announced that it will start broadcasting Joyce DiDonato’s concert from the Met Opera in 2020 starting on July 2, 2021.

The showcase saw the famed mezzo perform live from Bochum, Germany where she presented music by Händel, Monteverdi, and Rodgers and Hammerstein, among others.

DiDonato was accompanied by Carrie-Ann Matheson at the piano as well as Il Pomo d’Oro. The showcase, which took place in September 2020, was hosted by Christine Goerke.

In his OperaWire review of the performance, Dejan Vukosalvljevic noted that “Joyce DiDonato offered a fantastic performance in Bochum, reveling in the vastness of her artistry. The mezzo-soprano also showcased lots of dramatic moments that gyrated from the soft and warm, to the powerful and almost explosive.”

This is the latest of the series that PBS will be broadcasting. Other concerts from this series were headlined by Sonya YonchevaBryn Terfel, and Angel Blue, among others others.
