Paulo Szot to Return to Broadway in ‘Chicago’

Baritone Paulo Szot is headed back to Broadway this fall for the reopening of “Chicago.”

The opera star will reopen Broadway’s Ambassador Theatre in New York on Sept. 14 portraying the iconic role of Billy Flynn alongside Ana Villafañe as Roxie Hart, Bianca Marroquín as Velma Kelly, Lillias White as Matron Mama Morton, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, and Ryan Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

The ensemble will include David Bushman, Jennifer Dunne, Jessica Ernest, Jeff Gorti, Arian Keddell, Mary Claire King, Barrett Martin, Sharon Moore, Drew Nellessen, Celina Nightengale, Brian O’Brien, Denny Paschall, Angel Reda, Jermaine R. Rembert, Michael Scirrotto, Christine C. Smith, and Brian Spitulnik.

The performances of “Chicago” mark the baritone’s return to the Broadway stage where he garnered acclaim for “South Pacific” and won his first Tony Award. Szot is also set to perform “Chicagio” in his native Brazil and is also set to return to the Washington National Opera and Arizona Opera this season.

Szot will perform “Chicago” through Nov. 21, 2021.
