Pacific Opera Victoria Launches Online Programming

The Pacific Opera Victoria in Canada is launching online programming to continue to share music and knowledge during the COVID-19 quarantine.

The company will launch its platform on Friday, March 27 with a Listening Party Podcast Fridays at 4 p.m. on pacificopera.ca.

Rebecca Hass will be joined by local and national opera artists with each podcast set to include a link to a corresponding Spotify playlist. The first episode will feature an introduction to Pacific Opera’s music staff. Artistic Director Timothy Vernon, Associate Conductor Giuseppe (Joey) Pietraroia, and Curator of Public Engagement Robert Holliston will share stories of performances that have stayed with them.

The programming will continue with Acoustic Afternoon Mondays at 1 p.m., beginning March 30, 2020 at pacificopera.ca. Pacific Opera will provide weekly performances featuring Opera singers from the company’s 2019-20 and upcoming 2020-21 season from their kitchens and living rooms.

The first episode will showcase Canadian mezzo-soprano Allyson McHardy.

All podcasts will be archived at pacificopera.ca and will be updated every week.
