Pacific Opera Returns to Live Performance With Comic Double Bill
By Francisco SalazarPacific Opera Victoria is set to return to live performances with a opera double-bill that includes “The Italian Lesson” and “Bon Appétit!”
“The Italian Lesson” tells the story of a formidable but hopelessly distracted Park Avenue society matron who struggles to translate Dante’s epic masterpiece during a furiously busy morning in 1920’s Manhattan.
Meanwhile “Bon Appétit!” is a Julia Child opera and cooking show extravaganza, based on two real episodes of the iconic black & white television show.
Mezzo-soprano Megan Latham will perform both roles in composer Lee Hoiby’s two one-woman operas, accompanied by pianist Kimberly-Ann Bartczak.
The production will be designed by Pam Johnson with lighting by Jeff Harrison.
The works will be performed between March 11-23, 2022
