Pacific Opera Project To Revive Hipster ‘La Bohème’

On Dec. 7, 2018, the Pacific Opera Project (POP) will close its 2018 season with eight performances of its acclaimed 2012 production of “La Bohème: AKA ‘The Hipsters.'”

The production will be headed by two different casts. The first cast will see JJ Lopez (Rodolfo), Maya Rothfuss (Mimi), Aubrey Trujillo-Scarr (Musetta), and Ben Lowe (Marcello) headline the leading roles, while the second cast will showcase Dane Suarez (Rodolfo), Elle Valera (Musetta), Kerriann Otaño (Mimi), and Joel Balzun (Marcello).

E. Scott Levin (Schaunard), Vincent Grana (Colline), and William Grundler (Benoit, Alcinodoro, Parpignol) will perform all eight performances.

PCP’s production of Puccini’s classic will see Parisa Zaeri conduct and Artistic Director Josh Shaw back at the helm directing the production. “La Bohème: AKA ‘The Hipsters,’” brings Puccini’s classic to present day Los Angeles and will be the fourth revival.

The production is set to be staged from Dec. 7 through 22, 2018.
