Pacific Chorale to Present ‘The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci’

By David Salazar

Pacific Chorale is set to present Jocelyn Hagen’s “The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci” on Oct. 15, 2022.

The nine-movement multi-media work for choir, orchestra, and film features drawings, ideas, and writing by Leonardo Da Vinci. The work was created in collaboration with video artists Isaac Gale, Joseph Midthun, and Justin Schell.

Soloists include mezzo-soprano Jane Hyun-Jung Shim, bass Jared Daniel Jones, and organist Jung-A Lee.

“The liquidity of da Vinci’s mind and the way he connected disparate ideas as a means of understanding them is genuinely inspiring. Additionally, da Vinci was known as much for his failures as his successes, which is inspiring as well. He wasn’t afraid to take ideas out of context or take risks.”
