Vancouver Opera is set to resume its 2021-22 season with a pair of performances of Mascagni’s seminal masterwork “Cavalleria Rusticana.”

The showcase, which is set for Feb. 12 and 13 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, will be conducted by Jonathan Darlington and will star Othalie Graham as Santuzza, David Pomeroy as Turridu, Gregory Dahl as Alfio, Leah Field as Mama Lucia, and Hillary Tufford as Lola.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to return to Vancouver Opera and create music again with this exquisite concert,” Jonathan Darlington, Vancouver Opera Music Director Emeritus, said in an official press statement. “I can’t wait to share our concert performance of the well-loved ‘Cavalleria rusticana’ and bring the passion of this music to life with the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus and these incredibly talented soloists.”

Following the “Cavalleria Rusticana” performances, Vancouver Opera will continue its 2021-22 season with a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “HMS Pinafore” in April.
