Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden Announces Reimagined Festival

By Francisco Salazar

The Baden Baden Festspielhaus has announced that its annual Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden has been shortened due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The German festival will now be held from May 6 to 9 and will present an originally planned production of Tchaikovsky’s “Mazeppa” in concert form. The work will be performed twice and will feature the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Kirill Petrenko. The work will star Olga Peretyatko, Vladislav Sulimsky, Vitali Kowaljow, Oksana Volkova, Dmitry Golovnin, Alexey Kosarev, Dimitry Ivashchenko, and Alexander Kravitz.

More programming details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The change comes as Germany continues its lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis. Germany recently extended its lockdown and is set to reopen its theaters later in the spring.
