Andrei Feher has been named the new music director of the Orchestre classique de Montréal (OCM).
His tenure commences with the newly revealed 2025-26 season.
“It’s both an enormous privilege and a great pleasure to embark on this new adventure with the incredible musicians of the Orchestre classique de Montréal,” said Andrei Feher, OCM’s incoming Music Director, per an official press release. “My recent turn at the podium with the OCM was a career highlight, and I can’t wait to share our mutual love of music with the Montréal community.”
Feher is a Romanian-Canadian conductor who studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and at age 22, was named Assistant Conductor at the Orchestre de Paris. In 2018, he took over as Music Director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra.
His career has seen him perform with such ensembles as Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Violons du Roy and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
His first performance of the coming season is in December with a showcase of Händel’s “Messiah.” He also leads a production of “Hansel and Gretel” at schools, a concert dedicated to Polish music, and another that spotlights Vivaldi’s works.
