Orchestra Europa Announces Digital Concert Series

By Logan Martell

Orchestra Europa has announced a new, digital concert series that comes as part of the American Orchestra Europa Foundation. The concerts will feature newly-graduated artists from conservatories such as Colburn and USC.

The first concert will be held on October 21, with Artistic Director Scott Ellaway conducting a program of Nico Muhly’s “Set Me as a Seal,” and Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3,” among other works. A version for elementary students, including additional educational resources, will also be made available through OpusYou, a leader in K-12 music education.

The next concert will be held on February 24, featuring Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” with the third concert set for May 12, featuring Patrick Gowers’ “Viri Galilael.”

“Artistic performances are a universal experience that offer healing and hope in times of darkness,” said Ellaway in a press release.  “I’m honored to take performing arts into the digital realm so our communities can continue the appreciation and practice of music – no matter the circumstances.”
