Opernhaus Zürich Announces Cast Change for ‘Andrea Chenier’

By Francisco Salazar

The Opernhaus Zürich has announced a cast change for its production of Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier.”

The company said, “Unfortunately, Anja Harteros had to cancel this production for personal reasons. We would like to thank Erika Grimaldi for taking on the role of Maddalena.”

This season, Grimaldi is set to perform at the Washington National Opera in a production of “Otello,” at Verona’s Teatro Filarmonico in Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and at the Teatro Regio di Torino in “Manon Lescaut.”

She is set to join a cast that includes Yonghoon Lee and Artur Ruciński. Marco Armiliato conducts the production by Sylvie Döring.

“Andrea Chénier” opens on July 7, 2024.
