Anja Harteros Cancels ‘Tosca’ & ‘Parsifal’ at Bayerische Staatsoper

Anja Harteros has canceled her performances of Wagner’s “Parsifal” and Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The soprano was originally set to perform a new production of Puccini’s opera and revive Wagner’s work.

As a result, Eleonora Buratto will sing the title role of Tosca making her role debut while Irene Roberts will take over Kundry in “Parsifal” making her Bayerische Staatsoper debut.

Buratto is set to join a cast that includes Charles Castronovo, Jonas Kaufmann, and Ludovic Tézier. Andrea Battistoni conducts the new production by Kornél Mundruczó. Meanwhile, Roberts will perform alongside Christian Gerhaher, Bálint Szabó, Georg Zeppenfeld, and Clay Hilley. Constantin Trinks conducts Pierre Audi’s production.

“Tosca” opens on May 20, while “Parsifal” opens on March 31, 2024.
