Operalia Announces 2021 Competition

The Operalia competition has announced its 2021 competition.

The renowned event will take place in Moscow, Russia on Oct. 18th. to Oct. 24th. at the historic Bolshoi Theatre. Rolex will sponsor the event.

The competition, founded in 1993 by Plácido Domingo, was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications for this year’s competition are due on May 18, 2021. The competition will have an international jury that will be presided by Domingo.

Operalia is well known for discovering some of the greatest opera singers in the world including Pretty Yende, Nina Stemme, Eric Owens, Ainhoa Arteta, Olga Peretyatko, Janai Brugger, Angel Blue, John Holiday, Rolando Villazon, Lisette Oropesa, and Joyce DiDonato. The last winners in 2019 included Xabier Anduaga and Adriana Gonzalez.
