Opera Zuid is set to present “La Scala di Seta” and “Il Signor Bruschino” in a unique double bill.

The double bill, which premieres on May 19 at Theater Heerlen will star Chelsea Bonagura, Alexia Macbeth, Edwin Fardini, and Raoul Steffani.

The opera will be conducted by Sander Teepen and directed by Marcos Darbyshire.

“Rossini’s music is going to be our guide on this journey. And those old-fashioned archetypes, we transform them into modern characters that we recognise,” said Darbyshire per an official press statement.

Following the May 19 premiere, the double bill goes on tour for 11 total performances, the final one set for June 20 at Opera op de Parade, ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In the interim, it will take the stage in The Hague, Eindohoven, Venlo, Tilburg, Maastricht, Utrecht, Breda, Nijmegen, and Valkenburg.
