Opera Wuppertal Announces 2023-24 Season

Opera Wuppertal has announced its 2023-24 season, the first under Artistic Director Rebekah Rota.

The season opens with “Angel’s Bone” by Du Yun. The opera will be conducted by Johannes Witt and directed by Jorinde Keesmaat.

Performance Date:  Sept. 1, 2023

 Next up is “Tristan und Isolde” which will be conducted by Patrick Hahn and directed by Martin Andersson.

Performance Date:  Oct. 22, 2023 

That will be followed up by Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” Johannes Witt conducts and Christian Thausing directs.

Performance Date:  Dec. 9, 2023

The first opera production of 2024 will be “Alcina,” conducted by Dominic Limburg and directed by Julia Burbach.

Performance Date:  March 9, 2024

Next is “Erwartung” and “Der Wald.” Patrick conducts and Manuel Schmitt directs.

Performance Date:  April 7, 2024 

The company will also present “Never Stop Singing,” highlights from operetta and opera, featuring the the Chorus of the Oper Wuppertal.

Performance Date:  April 27, 2024 

Then comes “Die Lustigen Weißer von Windsor.” Johannes Witt conducts and Anja Kühnhold directs.

Performance Date:  June 1, 2024
