By Francisco SalazarOpera Vermont is set to present Gioachino Rossini’s “La Cenerentola.”
Artistic Director Joshua Collier, known for pairing beloved masterworks with fresh, insightful theatrical perspectives, will set this production in a bright, “Seussian-esque” universe.
In a statement he said, “There is a concern today that opera is only for adults, and must be tragic and serious in order to be honest to the art form.”
The production will star Rachel Deatherage, Eric Sebek, Darrell J. Jordan, Corrie Lotito, Nick Connolly, Kate Fruchterman, and Erin Sura. Cailin Marcel Manson conducts.
“La Cenerentola” will be performed on May 21 in a 50-minute Matinee version and a full orchestral version on May 23.
