By Francisco Salazar

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’s General Director Andrew Jorgensen has announced that Yvette Loynaz will be the company’s new Director of Artistic Administration.

The company selected Loynaz from a highly competitive field of more than 70 applicants led by the Catherine French Group. Loynaz comes from the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida, where she was the Director of Individual Giving and has worked internationally as an opera singer and producer.

In a statement Jorgensen said, “Yvette’s appointment marks a truly exciting new chapter for OTSL. As an experienced performer and an accomplished arts administrator, Yvette possesses a refined and nuanced artistic sensibility. From her commitment to nurturing young artists and building community, to her track record as a seasoned and thoughtful manager, to her dedication to creating equitable and inclusive environments in which creativity can thrive — all of these qualities make her a tremendously compelling addition to our team. I know that I speak for the OTSL Board and staff when I say we cannot wait for Yvette to begin her work here.”

In her new role, Loynaz will help cast and produce all artistic activities, ranging from the festival season to special events and off-season programs, in collaboration with Artistic Director James Robinson and Artistic Director of Young Artist Programs Patricia Racette.

Loynaz’s tenure at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis begins effective January 4, 2021.
