Opera Steamboat has announced its 2023 season.

The company revealed that it will present performances of Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” and Missy Mazzoli’s “Proving Up” between August 5 and 13, 2023. The mainstage productions will take place at the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp.

The organization also revealed that it would be shifting direction and will start to pay participants in its Opera Artistic Institute.

“The pivot to a system that pays all artists is a critical step in Opera Steamboat’s strategic plan,” said Ben Robinson, the company’s of Interim Executive and Artistic Director. “Creating a program environment that helps develop careers for emerging professional singers requires a commitment to a professional and artistically bountiful operating plan. I’m proud of this company and its Board of Directors for building a training program that allows Opera Artist Institute singers and pianists to work as peers alongside their mentors and coaches.”
