Opera Saratoga Announces 2023 Season

Opera Saratoga has announced its 2023 summer festival season.

In a statement Managing Director, Amanda Robie said, “We are excited to be partnering with Universal Preservation Hall this season for our MainStage performances and look forward to introducing our audiences to this amazing space right in downtown Saratoga Springs.” The season will also feature concert performances in the beloved Spa Little Theatre, The Mansion of Saratoga, and at Caffè Lena.

The season opens with “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” with the book by Robert L. Freedman and music by Steven Lutvak. The cast will include Eric McConnell, Maximillian Jansen, Maria De Conzo, Claire McCahan, and Megan Fleischmann. Laura Bergquist conducts the production by David Gram.

Performance Dates: June 30, July 2, 6, & 8, 2023, Universal Preservation Hall

The company will also present the opera buffa “Don Pasquale” by Gaetano Donizetti. The production will star Andy Papas, Alexander Smith, Antonio Cruz, Haley Whitney, and Randy Ho. Brian Garman conducts Meaghan Deiter’s production.

Performance Dates: July 1, 7, & 9, 2023, Universal Preservation Hall

Finally, Oscar Wilde’s “The Selfish Giant” will be presented after being developed at American Lyric Theater under the auspices of the Composer Librettist Development Program in New York City with leadership support from The Mellon Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts. The work will star Shannon Crowley-Texeira, Kaitlyn Tierney, James Eder, Audrey Welsh, and Jason Gonzalez.
