Opera San José is set to open its 42nd season with Mozart’s “Così Fan Tutte.”

The opera will be directed by Alek Shrader in his OSJ directorial debut, with Music Director and Principal Conductor Joseph Marcheso leading Mozart’s score.

The ensemble cast will feature Ricardo José Rivera as Guglielmo, Ricardo Garcia and Benjamin Ruiz alternating as Ferrando, Dale Travis as Don Alfonso, Joanne Evans in her company debut as Dorabella, and Emily Michiko Jensen as Fiordiligi.

In a statement, General Director and CEO Shawna Lucey said, “Opening our season with ‘Così Fan Tutte’ is a joyful reminder of opera’s unique ability to entertain while probing the complexities of love, loyalty, and human behavior. Mozart’s music is endlessly inventive, and under Alek Shrader’s insightful direction, this production invites audiences to experience the humor, vulnerability, and emotional contradictions that define real relationships. We look forward to welcoming audiences back to the California Theatre for a production that’s as emotionally rich as it is delightfully mischievous.”

“Così Fan Tutte” is set to be performed between Sept. 14 and 28, 2025  at the California Theatre.

The 2025-26 season is also set to present productions of “Madama Butterfly,” “Pagliacci,” and “Cavalleria Rusticana.”
