Opera Professionals Launch Opera Managers Association International

By David Salazar

Several opera managers around the world are joining forces to create the Opera Managers Association International e.V. (OMAI).

The coalition aims to collaborate with other industry professionals including producers, arts organizations, and artists, to build new working relationships and coalitions to further opera’s development during these challenging times.

“OMAI strives to provide our members with a forum for collaboration that encourages the sharing of information and resources to facilitate the strengthening of our profession as a thriving and vital performing arts business now and into the future,” says the organization’s mission statement on new website.

The organization also emphasized inclusivity and non-discrimination as part of its founding principles.

The organization’s board of directors includes President Mitchell Piper of Piper Artists Management; Vice President Dari Dimova of TACT International Management; Sarah Stephens of Stephens Nicolson Artists Management; Marcus Carl of MUSICA Management; Markus Laska of Melos Opera; and Sam Krum of Robert Gilder & Co.
