
Opera Philadelphia Announces Cast Change for ‘Don Giovanni’
By Francisco SalazarOpera Philadelphia has announced a cast change for its production of “Don Giovanni.”
The company said that Timothy Murray has withdrawn from the title role due to illness.
As a result, Sidney Outlaw will join the cast singing the title role, and his performances will be underwritten by Sheila Kessler.
Outlaw first performed the role of Don Giovanni just one year ago in a Boston Baroque production and received rave reviews. He later returned to the role in October with Greensboro Opera. Outlaw has performed on the stages of Madison Opera, New York City Opera, Atlanta Opera, and Carnegie Hall.
“Don Giovanni” will be directed by Alison Moritz and will be conducted by Music Director Corrado Rovaris. The cast will include Olivia Smith, Khanyiso Gwenxane, Elizabeth Reiter, Nicholas Newton, Amanda Sheriff, Kevin Godínez, and Raymond Aceto.
