Opera Philadelphia has announced a cast change for the Verdi Requiem.

The company announced that Daniela Mack has withdrawn as the mezzo-soprano soloist due to illness. As a result, Jennifer Johnson Cano will fill in for this weekend’s performances of the Verdi Requiem.

Johnson Cano has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, La Philharmonic, and the New Orleans Opera. This season she performs with the Chicago Symphony, Pittsburgh Opera, Cleveland Orchestra and Arizona Opera.

The mezzo-soprano joins a cast that includes Leah Crocetto, Evan LeRoy Johnson, and In-Sung Sim. Music Director Corrado Rovaris conducts the Opera Philadelphia and Chorus.

Performances, which will be dedicated in Memory of Jack Mulroney, are set for Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, 2020.
