Opera Parallèle to Present West Coast Premiere of ‘The Shining’
By Francisco SalazarOpera Parallèle is set to present the West Coast premiere of Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell’s opera “The Shining.”
Based on the iconic novel by Stephen King, the opera will be presented from June 2 to 4 in a new production The opera will also be presented in a new chamber orchestration created by the composer, at the Blue Shield of California Theater at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
The Opera Parallèle production will star Grammy Award-winner Edward Parks, Kearstin Piper Brown, Aubrey Allicock, David Walton, Nathan Granner, Timothy Murray, Eugene Brancoveanu, Christabel Nunoo, and Molly Mahoney. It will also feature a vocal ensemble of Bay Area singers in supporting roles.
The singers and orchestra will be conducted by Nicole Paiement and the production will be directed by Brian Staufenbiel.
