Edward Parks Leads Opera Colorado’s ‘The Shining’

Opera Colorado is set to present the regional premiere of “The Shining,” an opera by composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.

The production is set to star Edward Parks as Jack Torrance, Kelly Kaduce as Wendy Torrance, Kevin Deas as Dick Hallorann, and Micah VonFeldt as Danny Torrance. David Radamés Toro directs the production with innovative set features animations and projections by 59 Productions. Ari Pelto conducts.

In a statement Greg Carpenter, General & Artistic Director said, “It is such an honor to finally present Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell’s ‘The Shining’ after postponing it one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on an iconic novel of the 20th century and set to brilliant 21st-century music, this production is an example of the kind of artistic risk Opera Colorado is willing to take that celebrates our vibrancy and demonstrates our commitment to building audiences of the future,”

“The Shining” will be performed from Feb. 26 through March 6 with a total of five performances.
