Opera Orlando to Present ‘Mexico Canta!’ with Cecilia Violetta López

Opera Orlando’ is set to present “MÉXICO CANTA!” as a lead-up to the MainStage production of “Frida.”

The fundraising event will celebrate the art, culture, and music of Mexico on Sept. 9 at the Orlando Museum of Art. The evening will be headlined by soprano Cecilia Violetta López, who will play the title role in Frida.

The event will give audiences a sneak peek into López’s appearance on the MainStage production. Audiences will also enjoy food, wine, and margaritas from Frontera Cocina Méxicana.

López is a Mexican-American soprano who has performed with such companies as Minnesota Opera, Opera Colorado, Opera Tampa, Opera Idaho, Ash Lawn Opera, The Northern Lights Music Festival, Madison Opera, Pacific Symphony, and Virginia Opera. She has previously performed with Opera Orlando, most notably in “One Voice Benefit Concert in Orlando,” where proceeds benefited those affected by the tragedy that occurred at the Pulse Night Club.
