Opera on the James to Present ‘Tosca’

Opera on the James is set to present Puccini’s “Tosca.”

The opera, which is set to be performed on Nov. 11 & 13, is set to star Michelle Johnson as Tosca, Samuel Schlievert as Cavaradossi, and Todd Thomas as Scarpia.

The work is set to be directed by Michael Capasso and conducted by Peter Leonard.

The production is licensed by Archivio Storico Ricordi and features the recreations of Adolf Hohenstein’s original set and costume designs from the premiere in 1900.

“Tosca” will be performed at the Historic Academy Theatre in Virginia.

Opera on the James is celebrating its 17th Season and was created by a group of city leaders and opera lovers to share the power and beauty of live opera with diverse audiences in Central Virginia and beyond.
