Opera Omaha Launches Virtual Prelude Talks

By David Salazar

Opera Omaha has launched a number of online activities and events for its opera community. Among them are Prelude Talks, a series of chats revolving around the Metropolitan Opera’s nightly streams.

The Virtual Prelude talks will feature a number of opera companies providing free 20-minute talks presented on Facebook Live just before every Sunday night’s Met opera stream. Talks are estimated to star around 5:30 p.m. CT / 6:30 p.m. ET. There will also be a live Q & A session following every chat. Opera Omaha will maintain the event on its website for 20 hours thereafter.

The next opera that will be the focus of a Virtual Prelude Talk will be Bellini’s “Norma,” featuring Dr. Nicolas Reveles, the former Director of Engagement at the San Diego Opera.

Opera Omaha is the latest company to launch an online program for its opera community. Check out other companies engaged in similar endeavors here.
